Overview

When looking to review the performance of the Referral program, you might find yourself wanting to learn more about the most successful and profitable referral channels. This is where the Channel Analytics Dashboard steps in! Here, we'll go over how to understand the Channel Analytics Dashboard so that you can strategize using the information gained from this report.

The Dashboard will show you the past 30 days of activity by default. Use the date range picker at the top to adjust for specific time periods, like the previous month or previous year.

Channel Metrics Definitions

Shares

The number of times an Advocate shares the Referral program via each channel. See table below for additional details.

Clicks

The number of clicks that occured after the share via each channel.

Sign Ups

The number of Sign Up events that occured after the click via each channel.

Note: only applicable if you are tracking sign_up as a conversion event

Sign Up Rate

The percentage of Sign Ups divided by clicks via each channel.

Note: only applicable if you are tracking sign_up as a conversion event

Purchases

The number of Purchase events that occured after the click via each channel.

Conversion Rate

The percentage of Purchases divided by click via each channel.

Revenue

The net amount of Referral Revenue generated by Purchases via each channel.

What counts as a Share via each channel?

Email Channel

Share occurs when an Advocate refers a Friend via the email channel through the referral widget

  • If an Advocate enters multiple emails within the referral widget at one time (Ex: friend1@gmail.com, friend2@gmail.com, etc), the Share is only counted once.

PURL Channel

Share occurs when an Advocate clicks to Copy their PURL from the referral widget AND then a Friend proceeds to click on the Advocate's PURL. Both actions need to take place for the Share to be counted.

  • Only the first click on the PURL will be counted, not subsequent click, unless the Advocate goes back into the widget and clicks Copy again.
  • For PURLs generated via our API, there is no Advocate Copy PURL event needed.

SMS Channel

Share occurs when an Advocate sends the SMS text with the referral link in the message 

  • The Share is only counted once the actual text message has been sent from the Advocate's phone.

Social Channels (Facebook, Twitter, Messenger)

Share occurs when an Advocate clicks on the Social Share button(s) from the referral widget

  • The Share is officially counted once the Social Share button has been clicked, regardless of if the referral link has been successfully posted or not.
