To help prevent fraudulent usage of the referral program, Friendbuy allows you to configure a maximum number of clicks allowed on a referral link before the link becomes automatically disabled. These settings can especially help to protect the integrity of the campaign if a customer decides to post their referral link on a public page such as a coupon-sharing website. In this help article, we will go over how to set up the max limit for your referral campaign!
Setting Up Max Clicks for a Campaign
You can set up Max Clicks at the campaign level by going to Referral > Select Your Campaign > General > Max Clicks. This setting is disabled by default and is optional to set up.
Click on the toggle button to enable the feature when needed.
Set the desired click limit by entering a numerical value in the respective field.
Click Save if your campaign is not yet running, or Publish Changes if your campaign is running, in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Be sure to double-check each input is correct before pushing your changes live to the referral program.
Congratulations, your Max Clicks limit has now been successfully configured! When a customer clicks through a referral link that has already hit its maximum limit, the customer will be redirected to your Referral Link Fallback URL. By default, this will take the customer to a 'We’re sorry. This referral offer is no longer available' page hosted by Friendbuy. - Each Advocate share channel (PURLs, Email, SMS, social channels, etc) is a unique referral link with a unique click count that is checked against the settings current limit.
- The counts are not combined across referral links, so if one link from an advocate gets blocked, others will remain active
- Click counts are accumulated over the lifetime of the link, starting on June 28, 2021
