Configuring a Referral Link Fallback URL

William Harper Updated by William Harper

Throughout the life of your referral program, you might change your program settings and your old referral links may be out of date. But what happens when one of your customers clicks through a referral link that is no longer valid? In this help article, we'll be going over how to set up a Referral Link Fallback URL for your referral program!

The Referral Link Fallback URL allows you to redirect your customers to a fallback landing page when they click on a referral link that is either:

  • Invalid
  • Blocked
  • Reached the Max Clicks limit

Step 1

You can set up the Referral Link Fallback URL at the account level by navigating to Settings > Account > General.

Using the radio button, select one of the following options:

Option 1

Redirect users to a Friendbuy Hosted Landing Page (this is the default setting)

Below is a screenshot of the Friendbuy Hosted Landing Page, which you can preview by clicking here.

Note: This page cannot be edited or customized.
Option 2:

Redirect users to a Custom URL.

Select the Custom URL option to create your own Referral Link Fallback URL hosted on a landing page of your choice. Enter the URL in the input field. You can use your own landing page to customize the content and styling to match your brand. We recommend using a generic message such as “This offer is no longer available” to keep customers informed and to help avoid fraudulent activity.

Click Save if your campaign is not yet running, or Publish Changes if your campaign is running, in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Be sure to double-check each input is correct before pushing your changes live to the referral program.

Congratulations! You've now successfully configured your Referral Link Fallback URL settings.
